Namaste Y’all!

Let us tell you about the time we ventured to Agra during the sizzling summer season. Imagine stepping out into a world where the morning sun doesn’t just greet you; it envelops you in a 110-degree embrace. That’s not an exaggeration – it was literally that hot. And, yeah, that was just in the morning!

Now, with heat like that, you’d expect life to be dragging its feet, right? But here’s where it gets a bit wild – the monkeys in Agra are on a whole different level of chill. They were literally taking a dip in the rooftop pool of our hotel. And guess what? We were in that pool too! It was an unexpected check off the bucket list: Swimming with monkeys? Check!

Moving on from our poolside wildlife encounter, let’s talk about the reason Agra is on the map for most travelers – the Taj Mahal. This place isn’t just a wonder of the world; it’s a symbol etched deep into the fabric of our families. For my John, it was about tracing the steps of his cherished grandfather. For Heather, it was about walking where her grandparents and aunt & uncle once did. It’s like we weren’t just admiring the splendor before us; we were time-traveling, seeing this majestic monument through the loving eyes of our kin.

The Taj, oh boy! It’s a sight to behold. Absolutely stunning and incredibly large. You stand there, and your mind can’t help but race back to 400 years ago, thinking about the sheer will and dedication it took to erect such a masterpiece. The craftsmanship, the countless artisans, and the pioneering engineering… it’s a giant WOW. Buildings today just don’t stir that kind of awe.

Then there’s the romance of it all. The Taj Mahal isn’t just stone and marble; it’s the embodiment of love. It was born from Emperor Shah Jahan’s heartache over the loss of his beloved wife Mumtaz, who passed away after childbirth. The grief that threw an empire into mourning was the same force that inspired this monumental act of love. When we, who have been married to each other nine times and counting, wandered hand in hand through the Taj Mahal, it was like walking inside a love story etched in stone.

We mean, what would our love story look like if we had the means to build a monument? As much as we ponder it, We think we’ll stick to capturing our moments in videos and blog posts. After all, how many can say their love has been set in stone for the world to see?

So here’s our take – if the Taj Mahal isn’t on your bucket list, scribble it in right now. If it’s already there, move it to the top. Trust us; there are sights that you just have to witness in this lifetime, and the Taj is one of them. Just one piece of advice: time your visit to dodge the blistering heat, because while the Taj is a testament to eternal love, heatstroke is definitely not!
